For university, I have to write a Research paper and i want to examine whether there is a relationship (correlation)between hours worked in a Country per week and the Happiness Index points as the dependent variable. However, it has to be a mutiple linear regression model but I struggle with finding more independent variables. Can somebody help me here?
For a multiple linear regression model, you need to have more than one independent variables.
The dependent variable here is "Happiness Index"
The independent variables can be plenty, now here comes the part of your contextual knowledge. If you can think why people in a certain country are more happier or less happier, you will get an idea about the factors that affect the happiness index.
To give you an idea here are the example of independent variables which you can consider
1. per capita income: Of course the majority of the happiness in our lives depend on the income we receive at the end of the day
2. Unemployment rate: contrary to the per capita income, as the unemployment rate increases, happiness index might decrease, which is negatively correlated
3.Literacy rate: Literacy rate surely affects the level of happiness in a country
4. Divorce rate: If the divorce rate is high in a particular country, we can interpret that the social bonds among people are weak and this might affect the happiness in people
These are some independent variables you could choose, if you have any questions, please comment. I'm happy to help.
