Food insecure and low income are subject to same often challenging influences as other Americans trying to consume a healthful diet and healthful weight.But those who are food insecure or low income also face unique challenges in adopting also maintaining a healthful behaviours.Healthy food may be more costly in terms of monetary cost for the perishable items for the potential of waste,whereas the refined grains,added sugars and fats are generally expensive and readily available in low income opportunities.Houses with limited resources to buy enough food often try to stretch their food budgets by purchasing cheap energy dense foods that are filling that is they try to maximise their calories per dollar in order to stave off hunger while less expensive dense foods typically have lower nutritional lower quality and because of over consumption of calories which leads to obesity.Low income communities have more options of fast food restaurants these restaurants serve many dense energy poor food nutrient at a lower price.Fast food consumption is associated with diet high in calories and low in nutrients and frequent consumption of this leads to weight gain.Food insecure and low income leads to poor nutrition and obesity.This cycle includes lack of access to healthy and affordable foods,cycle of food deprivation and overeating,high level of stress and anxiety,limited access to health care.
