What is bomb calorimetry? What are its principles? What is its use?
Bomb calorimetry is constant-volume calorimeter which is used to determine the enthalpy of combustion temperature of fuels.
The main principle of bomb calorimeter is to measure the heat combustion of chemical reactions. It withstands the large pressure within the calorimeter where the reactions are being measured. Electrical energy is used for fuel ignition, as soon as the fuel is burnt, it will heated the surrounding areas of the tube which escape the air of the calorimeter. simultaniously the copper vessel is also used to heat the tube with water bath.
Such devices can be used to determine the heat of combustion of chemical reaction/s. It is used in the fields like : Fuel testing, metabolic studies, waste and disposal refuses, propallents, explosive testings, thermodynamic studies etc. Besides, the bomb calorimeter is also used in the scientific and theoretical studies.
