What is the hydrologic cycle? What is the importance of the hydrologic cycle?

What is the hydrologic cycle? What is the importance of the hydrologic cycle? What does the hydrologic mean to you in your everyday life? How do you contribute to the hydrologic cycle?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Hydrologic cycle is nothing but the transformation of water body from one form to another form like stream water get some evaporation and some runoff so evaporated water may form cloud and precipitated and again form stream so in this way cycle may form so its nothing but the transformation of water body from one form to another form.

as we know without water there is no life so water is very important and drinkink water is only about 1% of total water so hydrologic cycle is very important. groundwater is a part of hydrologic cycle and for drinking water only groundwater is play vital role so in our daily life hydrologic play role, another example is agreculture when rainfall occur crops will grow good and give good product and rainfall or precipitation is a part of hydrologic cycle so in our daily life its play big role.

hydrologic cycle is like as energy coservation law water can not be created or can not be destroyed, it mean that you cannot add into it or exhaust from that mean from hydrologic cycle. as we know groundwater is a source of drinking water so we can only contribute that by artificial recharge method we can increase the recharge rate of groundwater.

A hydrologic budget is performed on a section of lake to determine the expected evaporation in inches per month. The surface area of the of the lake is 250 acres. The inflow is 1500 cfs, the outflow was 1450 cfs, the infiltration is 5 inch/month, and the precipitation is 10 inches/month of precipitation over the lake. The overall increase in storage is 0.4 ft/day. Note: Assume that 1 month has 30 days.(show work)
