What is a bacterial colony? (That is to say, what does it originate from and what is it now?)
Bacteria are single celled organisms that can be seen only through a microscope. The growing of Bacteria is known as culturing. These bacteria are spread to the surface of the agar which contains all nutrients that bacteria need for growth. As they consume and grow and multiply, the population of bacteria on the surface increases from thousands to billions. So they become much visible by our naked eye. This huge population originated from one cell of bacteria and this is called bacteria colony. Each species of bacteria has different colonies. The identification and examination of bacteria colonies is called colony morphology.
hope the answer helps. thumbs up champ..
