Socilogy based question:
Is inequality inevitable? Examine both sides of the argument. What are the different ways of defining equality? Is inequality inevitable? Examine both sides of the argument. What are the different ways of defining equality?
Equality:
1. Treating everyone on the same manner.
2. Equality may not always be considered in treating people in the same manner, but may also be regarded in terms of equality in income, equality in post, equality in achieving results etc.
3. Equality of outcome.
It is not possible to obtain equality everywhere. I mean, I believe that inequality is not inevitable. There are a number of reasons for it. Inequality is when people are treated differently or when there are differences in distribution of resources or when there are differences in allocation of norms. Differentiation could be on the basis of race, ethnicity or se-xual orientation or education.
Inequality cannot end. Even if an inequality that is present in the minds of the people are eliminated, there would still be inequality at many other fronts. If inequality in thought processes are eliminated, it would mean that people would be treated equally, given the same opportunity to speak out, given the same wages etc.
Even if all of these inequalities are eliminated, there would still remain inequalities in allocation of resources. This is because every person is not born with the same intellect. And a person gets paid depending on their intellect. Moreover, there is lack of motivation, lack of education. Some people stop their education in between, not completing college, thus getting involved in irregular jobs, with irregular income. Depending on the income of a person as well, there is a lot if inequality in the society. It defines the class of a person and puts them in different classes, creating a hierarchy.
Hence, since inequality is not in only one aspect, it cannot be completely eliminated.
