A neighborhood watch program is a group of individuals living within the same space who need to form their neighborhood safer by operating along and in conjunction with local enforcement to reduce crime and improve their quality of life.
Block watches works :
The funding of community watch programs is nearly continually a venture between the native police department and also the program members through their fund-raising activities. In the U.S.,block watches are typically run by a block captain who is responsible to a block coordinator or block organizer.

Their effects-
This program wasn't much effective in general-
Citizen policing programs were related to a “significant reduction in crime.” on the average, there was a 16% decrease in crime in Neighborhood Watch communities in comparison with control areas. It remains unclear whether Neighborhood Watch deters offenders or enhances investigation.

The Neighborhood Watch could be a community crime hindrance program that was launched by the National Sheriffs’ Association in 1972 to encourage citizens to seem out for each different, work on neighborhood issues, and create themselves safer.
