It is the issue in the past that requires sufficient knowledge in the field of accounting to be an efficient accountant.

As the time padded and technological advancement has taken its key role in all the important areas, accounts in one of such areas to experience the impact of such change.

In.the present day situation accountants are usually part of multiple discipline team that designs and implements, accounting information systems.

Here, the accountants should be aware of information systems which ate to be used or implemented in the organisation since, if there is any discrepancy in the system, it may lead to misleading or improper outputs which should be detected and fixed and as he have sufficient knowledge of accounting it is felt that, a considerable knowledge of information systems would help him to make his work easy and better.

Yes, I've come across a situation, where during an audit in.the computerized environment, there was a problem with the systems or say a trick played by the management in order to cheat the auditor in the course of his audit, but unknown to the management, the said auditor possesses good knowledge of information systems and could tackle the issue and had done the audit in a proper manner and this was explained to me by himself.
