How does the war on terror change the way as Americans look at Domestic and National Security?

Americans, who often view war as an accomplishment, encounter enemy terrorists who view war as a way of life. We are reluctant to organize military competitions taken decades ago, or to refuse endless warfare. Over the past decade there has also been an unmistakable claim by the presidential authorities on individuals, electronic surveillance without warranties, arrests only for summonses, private arrest and trial without charge, and the use of forced investigations. that would be labeled as easy harassment before 9/11 happened.

There were these major dangers posed by fear: that it would ruin our freedom, our traditional respect for human rights, our commitment to the law itself. Fortunately, these extremes were challenged in the courts, in Congress and in the electorate, and are now being rectified. With challenges never before seen, the republic has survived. It has weathered dark times in the past, and will continue to do so.

Please identify the next major threat to the United States

According to the latest research, Americans now see spread of pandemic diseases as the next big threat alongside terrorism, nuclear weapons and cyberattacks. We are aware of the novel corona-virus which has caused one of the biggest pandemics seen in the recent years. Orignated in China, this virus made us realize the help-lessness people can face when dealing with nature the wrong way. In the US alone, there have been more than 2.8million confirmed cases till now and is increasing day by day with over 140k+ confirmed deaths. These numbers are huge and alarming and is the biggest threat existing not just for the US but for the entire world.

The American people continue to see many international issues - including terrorism, nuclear weapons distribution and terrorist attacks - as a major threat to the nation's well-being. Infectious disease has emerged as the biggest concern as of now and is predicted to continue for another decade until a vaccine has been invented. However, infectious diseases are not the only place where Americans see the growing threat. Concerns about China and the global economy have also risen.

For now, I would like to talk about the response of United States against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Health & Safety - ( 9/10)

There were multiple changes made in the existing laws and policies in the health and safety sector which is quite applaudable. US is also known for its advance equipments and technologies and although the virus came un-invited, the govt. made no compromise in providing healthcare facilities.

Travel, immigration and transport - (8/10)

The travel of citizens were stopped and a lockdown was in effect to counter the pandemic. However, the govt wasnt quick enough to realize the severity of the virus and delayed bringing a lockdown to effect. If they would have done it earlier, a drastic change in numbers of the deceased and infected could have been seen. But, they surely made amendments and changed laws once they realised their mistake which is a good sign.

Money and Taxes (3/10)

In this case, i am highly disappointed by the govt on the decision of lifitng up the lockdown and resuming work again to maintain the economy of the country. This was seen as a measure to counter the growing economy of China and losing the number 1 spot to it. This is not acceptable to put citizen lives in danger to save the economy. It was a hard decision but the obvious choice should have been to save lives rather than saving economies. Moreover, a surprising thing was that the citizens were protesting for the lockdown to be removed and not caring about their lives. This is just my view towards what I feel.

Education (8/10)

The education sector quickly shifted to the online programmes and classes which is a quick and escalated move for a developed nation like the US. The US govt closed schools and colleges and instructed them to uphold class through online platforms. However, they did revoke the H1-B visa which helped foreign students to study and work in the US which is not completely fair in my view.

Businesses (10/10)

The US had changed it policies regarding the exports and imports from various countries during this pandemic. Moresover, it has strictly taken up a stand against China and stoped its imports from the country. It has helped its business grow and have brought up a separate budget for the same.

Overall, I would rate the response of the world's most advanced country to the Covid 19 pandemic as 7/10.

What does readiness to change mean, and what does it look like? When I worked in a large consulting firm, we had a specific step in our change process that was entitled "change readiness".
