Explain the necessary similarities and/or differences between the components of a mixture in order for recrystallization to be used as an effective method for the separation of two organic compounds.
The compound X and T must be soluble in one of the organic solvents in the hot solution of that solvent.but one of the component S or T must be insoluble in the cold solution of that solvent and another component must be soluble in cold solution also. let consider S is soluble in an organic solvent let acetone in cold and hot conditions. T is soluble in acetone at hot condition only.at cold condition T is insoluble. the mixture of S and T dissolved in the hot solution of acetone and allowed to cool at room temperature. while temperature decreases the solubility of T decreases and its start to crystallize.while S will be in the solution
