Was the reaction of the Chinese Government justified compared to the reasons given for the War against Drugs in the US. You must clearly identify the proximate events that led to the declaration of War on Drugs and which year.
It was the president Richard Nixon who declared the war against drugs in the USA. It was started in the June of the year 1971, when Mr. Nixon came up with the policies and stringent acts to control and eliminate the illegal use of drugs in the USA. The proximate reasons for the war against drugs were, huge number of drug addicts being created in the USA, illegal trade of drugs to the USA from the countries like China and Mexico and looses to the economy due to the illegal trade and the young generation falling to the trap of drug addiction.
When the war against drugs were launched, then the US government asked China to control the illegal drugs export or trade, because it was China that was one of the source of drug supplies via Mexico. Here, Chinese labs formed the cartel with the drugs suppliers in the country of Mexico. But, Chinese government asserted USA to control their own domestic policies in the USA and asked USA to take measures at their own end to prevent the trade. Besides, China did not control the production of drugs such as opium in its own nation, along with no control upon the Chinese labs in its own territory. It made China to put all the blame and responsibility to the USA to control the worsening drug situation in the USA. So, China did not cooperate well with the USA and the Chinese response was not justified.
