what is the Scientific reason behind " why stars have star shaped"!!

Solutions

Expert Solution

Stars in reality are not star shaped.
They are spherical in shape like our sun and similarly hot as the sun.

If we see stars from a space shuttle or somewhere from the space where there is no atmospheric interference on the light falling into our eyes from the star we will see stars as small spherical dots

Now by know you must be getting that the main reason behind the TWINKLING shape of star is our atmosphere.

Our atmosphere is a refractive medium which keeps on changing i.e. the air keeps on moving thus changing the refractive index of the atmosphere slightly and continuously (because warm air and cold air have different refractive index), thus altering the path of light from the stars to our eyes slightly and continuously.

Moving atmosphere results in the change in warm and cold air positions and both warm and cold air have different refractive indices thus effectively changing the refractive inde of air

Now of any object what we see is decided by the lights coming from it....now when the light coming from star changes continuously it gives it a sparkling effect which we call TWINKLING.
This is from where a spherical ball of hot gases gets a shape what we call as a STAR.

The apparent rotation of the stars is due to Earth’s actual rotation, and the “north star” moves very little because the rotational axis of the Earth points almost directly at it. However, this has not always been the case, and will not be so in the future, because Earth’s axis precesses with a period of 25,770 years; we will have a new north star in the future (or no north star at all!).
