ammonium ion by neutralization with aqueous sodium hydroxide in
procedure IV-1.
2a. Calcium ion is confirmed in procedure IV-2 by reaction with
ammonium oxalate, (NH4)2C2O4, to form the precipitate calcium
oxalate. is ammonium oxalate an electrolyte or
non-electrolyte?
b. Write a balanced NIE that corresponds to the formation of
calcium oxalate in procedure IV-2.
3. Magnesium ion is confirmed in procedure IV-3 by reaction with
sodium hydroxide to form the precipitate magnesium hydroxide. Write
a balanced NIE that corresponds to this reaction.
Please help as soon as possible! Thank you!!!
1.Place 10 drops of solution in a 30 mL beaker.
Place a moistened piece of red litmus paper and put it on the bottom of a small watch glass.
Add 1 mL of 6 M NaOH to the sample in the beaker. Cover the beaker with the watch glass.
Gently heat the solution to near the boiling point.
Do not allow the solution to splatter onto the litmus paper.
The paper should turn blue from ammonia fumes.
2a) A substance to act like an electrolyte in solution ,it should have free ions.
