Find one data set. 50 datums minimum
You may use NBA, NHL, MLB, stock market, coinmarketcap (crypto currency) or any other type of data.
What type of data is it? Ordinal? Interval? Ratio?
Create a frequency distribution with 7 classes.
Create a Histogram based on data.
Find: Data Frequency, Percent, Cumulative frequency, Cumulative Percent
Create a step by step frequency distribution in Excel for data ( set boundaries, midpoint, frequency, percentage, cumulative frequency and cumulative percentage).
ANS- We are taking a data of a universities students from different department and collecting information about gender, category and raise a question -" My personality is attractive or not, bothers me." response of this qus taken on followed by 5 alternative responses ranging from Always ,Very Often, Sometimes, Rarely, Never. The five point scale was awarded 1-5 scores.
Data are given below
EXPLAINATION- Data of gender and category is taken on Nominal scale while data on question that personality is bother or not is taken on likart scale which is ordinal data . For more clarification see below the definition of different scales.
• NOMINAL –
Categorical variables without any order or ranking sequence such as
names or classes (e.g., gender). Binary- two categories,
multinomial- more than two categories.
• ORDINAL –
Variables with an inherent rank or order, e.g. mild, moderate,
severe. Can be compared for equality, or greater or less, but not
how much greater or less.
• INTERVAL –
This scale has the properties of the nominal and ordinal scales,
but here the magnitude between the consecutive intervals are equal.
Temperature is the example that is usually given to illustrate an
interval scale.e.g. Attitude scales, Calendar years .
• RATIO SCALE -
Ratio scales have all of the characteristics of the nominal,
ordinal and interval scales. In addition, however, ratio scales
have a true zero. This is the kind of scale that you used when you
learned arithmetic in grade school. You assumed that the numbers
had meaning, that they had rank order (3 is larger than 2), that
the intervals between the consecutive numbers were equal and that
there was a zero. Four was twice two; eight was half of sixteen
etc. There are true ratios. One can use all mathematical operations
on this scale.e.g: weight, height, time, distance.
