telephone at work. Why, then, do employers need to develop policies
on monitoring the use of e-mail, the Internet use, social media,
and other forms of technology?
2. Few studies have considered the impact of monitoring on employee
behaviour. Does it reduce crime, and make workplaces safer and more
productive? Or does it increase stress, and result in an
adversarial relationship? What do you think and why?
3. If an employer allows you to use your own smartphone at work for

Employers in general develop policies on monitoring the use of e-mail, the Internet use, social media, and other forms of technology because of following reasons:
The basic difference between telephone and other digital media mentioned is that while telephone voice data is consumed without getting stored but digital data is spread very fast and is automatically getting stored. The following are the reasons for the regulation of digital data:
a) Internet and social media have become important aspects of business in engaging with current and prospective customers. It is extremely crucial that companies manage their social media profile which gives good impression about the company. Therefore they tend to formulate policies with regard to social media use and internet use as it is related to managing the reputation of the company
b)Emails are formal means of communication and mails sent from company id is considered legal and binding on the company. Therefore company regulates the use of emails.
c)
