CRISPR technology provides a cheap, precise, and supposedly therapeutically tolerable mechanism to edit the genome in living tissues there by a cure a to many genetic disorders. Although the side effects are not yet established, for now CRISPR technology seems to be a promising treatment to many. However this technology is patented at multiple levels and hence the patent - license fees and purchase of rights is very expensive to normal patients. Hence while the research is on for the development of compliance of CRISPR technology to the regulatory restrictions for biosimilars, parallel work on reducing the cost of this treatment should also be brought about.
