what is the difference between crystal form, crystal habit and crystal morphology? define the three terms

Solutions

Expert Solution

Crystal form includes each single faces of a crystal that are similar to each other and bounded by an angle. For example, cube.

Crystal habit means the term that generally used to describe the shape of a crystal. Habit term is used to refer an overall single crystal. Here adjective form of the word is used.

For example, cubic crystals which has cube shape. Prismatic which consists of prism faces.

In general, crystal morphology means the crystal structure. A set of crystal planes together forms a crystal surface. Both the lattice point and the plane of symmetry gives information regarding the morphology of a crystal.
