Explain what is meant by a 'zipper effect' within an adhesion bond.

Explain what is meant by a 'zipper effect' within an adhesion bond.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Firstly, we should know that what is adhesion bond.

Two types of bonding are: adhesion bonding and and cohesion bonding

In adhesion bonding two dissimilar materials bound together through chemical reaction of their atoms and molecules, while cohesion is the bonding between two similar materials. A adhesive, liquied materia, is generally used to produce adhesion between two different materials. A image is shown here which describe the zipped pattern of bonding. Generally, polymeric materials, block polymers or graft polymers, bound together in a zipped pattern. In this image, two different materials (templates) are zipped by adhesion bonding.

Two different materials bound together by fitting their blocks or interlocks in a zipped pattern.
