Strengths and weakness of a therapist in a therapeutic relationship
Like any other profession even therapist has got its strengths band weaknesses. There are weaknesses even if if therapists are known to strengthen people.
Following are the strengths
Therapist have deep knowledge, since they have studied about understanding people or a person they have much insight into how a person would react than any other normal friend. A good therapist is always believed because he/she makes actual changes in a person.the therapist leads the patient to initiate change, therapist motivates them and bring them into positive mood. They help in bringing out unresolved conflicts or issues which are deep rooted in unconscious. This is particularly useful while treating borderline patient or phobia patients.
There are some drawbacks such as a therapist can go only deep in the topic but can not change the situation. Also he can not control the biological factors which are responsible for the behaviour. Also therapist can only come across one patient at a time, multiple patients are not feasible since therapist needs time to come out of each patient.
