A. Operon is nothing but a cluster of genes performing related function organised in a form of block in the genome. Operons are present in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. The operons or genes are first transcribed into mRNA which are then translated solely or together in the cytoplasm. The prokaryotic operon is transcribed or expressed into the polycistronic mRNA which means each gene transcribed into a seperate mRNA. Cistron is nothing but the gene. Whereas eukaryotic operon is expressed into a monocistronic mRNA.
Prokaryotic operon for homeostasis
Homeostasis is the process by which an organism maintains the internal temperature , water balance and acidity of the body. It is important for both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
Operons like gab operon, lac operon, adc operon etc.
