Host Bus Adapter (HBA): It is a circuit board that physically connects a host system (like server) to internal or external storage(like hard disk drives, solid state drives etc). So it means HBA allows a host system to connected storage devices to communicate with each other.
We all aware the Network Interface Card (NIC) is used for connecting a system to LAN , similiarly HBA is used for a system to communicate or connect with storage media.

World Wide name (WWN): It is is an unique identifier used in storage technologies including Fibre Channel(FC), Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) or Serial Attached SCSI (SAS). It is similiar to MAC address on ethernet card here we can say that WWN number on HBA. WWN is 64-bit address, and if two WWN addresses are put into the frame header, this leave 16 bytes of data just for identyfying the destination and source address.
There are some some types of WNN:

  • Fiber Channel Storage Area Network (FC SAN)
  • Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA)
  • Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA)
  • Serial Storage Architecture (SSA)

We are sending a MP3 file of 300,000 bits from Host A to Host B. Host A and B are each connected to a switch S via 100 Mbps links. Assume that each link introduces a propagation delay of 10 µs (microsecond). Calculate the total transfer time of the entire file (from first bit sent to last bit received) for the following: Suppose the MP3 file is sent as one message. S is a store-and-forward device; it begins retransmitting immediately...
