Complete combustion of 1 kmol of PROPANE GAS with 0% excess air produces (?????) kmol of carbon-dioxide gas. (enter a decimal number)
The basic combustion process can be described by the fuel (the hydrocarbon) plus oxydizer (air or oxygen) called the Reactants, which undergo a chemical process while releasing heat to form the Products of combustion such that mass is conserved. Combustion process with 0% excess air is known as Stoichiometric Combustion, given Combustion is complete:
where z is known as the stoichiometric coefficient for the oxidizer (air), and Stoichiometric combustion assumes that no excess oxygen exists in the products, thus d = 0.
