Advantages:

*Sharing information

Database in the companies are used to share common information,if you have a bussiness in different locations you data easily

* Ability to store huge amount of data

There there are very huge companies which contains huge amount of data ,that data can be stored using data base

*Duplicate elimination

We can eliminate the duplicate data like repeated data

*Quick access of information

By using database we can easily and quickly access the information.

*Data is easily maintainable

By using data base ,data is digitalised ,so it is easy to carry out maintanance in companies

*It has Information security

A database has several parts depending on users .you can limit the access to certain part of data for certain users .

*Minimises data inconsistency

That is proper consistency is maintaned with no redundancy

*No concurrency

Several users can use the data simultaneously in the company concurrently.

Disavantages

*Damage of database in company affect virtually all application programs ,as most of the data is associated with it.

*Training for employees

There is requirement for training the employees for dealing with data base in company for productive work,this takes time as well as cost.

To run the database management system for maintance of database,it require high speed processor and large memory size which is expensive.
