Bolted connections are of various types and patterns according to requirements like the type and style of members to be connected and load carrying capacity of the connection required a bolted connection is designed and made. And during construction they are provided as :
step 1 : Analysis of how many bolts are required at the joint.
step 2 : Material of the bolt should be of same stregnth as of member.
step 3 : Bolt holes are made in primary members which are to be connected.
step 4 : Calculating the torque : Engineered joints require the torque to be chosen to provide the correct tension preload. Applying the torque to fasteners is commonly achieved using a torque wrench. The required torque value for a particular fastener application may be quoted in the published standard document, defined by the manufacturer or calculated.
step 5 :Thread engagement : It is the length or number of threads that are engaged between the screw and the female threads.
step 6 : Locking mechanism : It keep bolted joints from coming loose.
