develop a proposal to create a vaccine for SARS-Cov2 (the virus causing Covid-19)

What do you expect the vaccine to do when introduced to the host?

2. Does everyone need to get the vaccine, why or why not?

3. To create a SARS-CoV2 vaccine, what viral component will you use as the vaccine to induce an immune response, and how will you obtain this information?

4. What system will you use to create the vaccine (use drawings as necessary)?

a. Detail the approach you will take to get an expression of your viral antigen?

b. How will you drive high expression of your viral antigen?

c. How will you produce large amounts of your vector vaccine?

ANSWER 1 :-

Taking into consideration the severity that many countries in the world are facing is the onset of the SARS-Coc2 infections in which the cases are multiplying many folds and the situation has already been declared as Pandemic. There are various trials which are in progress in terms of checking the effectiveness of previously designed vaccines in treating the viral infection incluing Ivermectin although there is a serious need to implement production of an efficient vaccine taking into consideration that the viral infection subjugate itself as a seasonal flu increasing the risks associated with it.

There needs to be special focus specifically targetted on development of vaccines which are not just restricted to the people who have better immune response but will also take into account those people who have weakened immune system or have associated conditions such as diabetes, hypertension which in turn triples the damage that can be faced. Devising new methods including researches on the epitopes associated with the virus woud help to devise new and better vaccines which in turn will ease the burden on the medical institutions as well as the economic drawbacks many countries are facing mainly due to no targetted medication which leads to segregation in investment and costing on unintended approaches. Reports regarding the vaccine production and effectiveness can be considered post clinical trails are initiated.

  1. The vaccine is basically an antigen or a small component located on the surface of a biological entity such as a bacteria or a virus. This includes a hapten which are basically small molecules located on viral surface which cannot cause the disease although it can be detected by the human immune system in order to elicit an immune response.

ANSWER 2 :-

  1. According to me, the R0 for the SARS-Cov2 is estimated to be ranging from 2-5 taking into consideration that a single infected person can spread the viral agents when it comes into contact with 2-5 individuals at a time.
  2. This, in turn indicates that the conditions can worsen over time if the orders regarding physical distancing are not being followed and can end up into getting the entire population being affected although less will be the fatality rate associated. Taking into cosideration the various stages associated with the viral multiplication at individual and community level, this can be considered as a serious problem as it has already been stated as a pandemic but proving the fatality rate is less, at this moment taking into consideration there would be more costs involved in treatment as well as vaccination, it will be suitable to provide it if the vaccines in consideration are the therapeutic vaccines which basically is focussed on enhancing the response our immune system generates against the viral entity. So, at this moment, not everyone needs to be vaccinated except those who have already been infected or the ones who have been quarantined or may show symptoms of the infection.
