Can the following PCs be migrated from a windows XP and windows 7 operating system to a cloud-based operating system? Justify your answer explaining the steps required for the migration and the hardware requirements needed to upgrade. Explain why you have chosen a cloud-based operating system as compared to the Windows 10 operating system.

3500 Desktop PC’s (1GHZ CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB HDD)
4500 Desktop PC’s (1.4GHZ CPU, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD)
3000 Desktop PC’s (2.4GHZ CPU, 8 GB RAM, 128GB HDD)

The computer specifications are above:

Yes,all of the above computers with given specifications can easily be migrated to cloud environment or we can say cloud-based operating system.

Actually it is not the specifications (ram,HDD,clock speed) that need to be considered while migrating but there are other factors that one should take into consieration.

Steps required to migrate into cloud environment are:-

  • First of all one should choose the level upto which he/she wants the cloud to be integrated. It means whether the person wants to migrate whole operating system to the cloud or just a few applications.
  • Person has the options to choose between single cloud and multi cloud:-In single cloud whole of the operating system just relies on a single cloud platform but in the second case the computer relies on more than one cloud platform.
  • Person has to choose the company of the cloud environment. There are many vendors of cloud computing. One has to decide and purchase it from the selected vendor.

There are many more steps but these three are the basic steps as rest of the steps could be performed by the vendor selling the cloud services.

Now coming to second part of the question i.e why I have chosen a cloud based operating system rather than windows 10 operating system:-

Cloud based operating system has many advantages over the windows 10 such as:-

  • Storage space:-There is limited storage in windows based OS as one has to buy a new physical storage device if the storae is full.On the other hand there is no such overhead in the cloud based OS.In the cloud based operating system whole of the data is stored on a cloud storage rather than on a physical disk.Cloud storage is a virtual storage that could be extended anytime. The user just have to buy the new cloud storage and it is the responsibility of the cloud vendor to give extra storage to the customer.
  • Security:-In windows based OS it is the responsibility of the user to look after the security and there always remains a overhead and a concern about user privacy. On the other hand in a cloud based OS it is the responsibility of the cloud vendor to take care of the privacy and it is always more secure than the windows based operating system.
  • Performance:-The performance of the cloud based OS is always better and efficient as compared to the windows based OS no matter what the RAM,ROM and processor the user has.

Cloud based OS is always better and efficient than the windows based OS.All the MNC`s today are shifting over to cloud based OS.

Hope it helps.....

Thankyou...... :-)
