In: Statistics and Probability
During a study, individuals were asked to rate a product on a scale of 1-5. From the following data, help the researcher determine whether any significant differences exist in opinions among individuals from two different regions. (Note: Assume a significance level of 0.05 and assume that the population standard deviation is unknown). Show your work.

NULL HYPOTHESIS H0:
ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS Ha:
Significance level of 0.05
Testing for Equality of Variances
A F-test is used to test for the equality of variances. The following F-ratio is obtained:

The critical values are FL=0.176 and FU=5.119, and since F=1.365, then the null hypothesis of equal variances is not rejected.

P value= 0.01259
Since P value is smaller than 0.05 therefore SIGNIFICANT
DECISION: REJECT H0.
CONCLUSION:We have sufficient evidence to conclude that there is significant differences exist in opinions among individuals from two different regions.
