How you dealt with “natural” unemployment, and how the experience inspired you?
The natural unemployment is constituted by structural and
frictional unemployment. My friend faced it when his organization
went on to implement the new technology in the organization and it
was communicated to the employees to either come with the latest
technical competencies or face the layoff. In response, my friend
went to pursue a refresher technology based training programs that
could make him ready for the new technology. After completion of
the program, he was capable to do his job. Though, he got another
and better opportunities and changed his job. Here, it was the
anxiety of structural unemployment that caused him to learn new
technologies. Afterwards, he changed his job and remained in
frictional unemployment for a small period of time.
It inspired me to learn latest and new technologies as a mean to
become adapted to the latest job market scenario. Further, it
creates new opportunities and I can grow in terms of roles as well
as compensation. So, natural unemployment may force people to learn
new things, but it makes the way for growth also
