Make a plot of bonding energy versus melting temperature for Al, Ag, and Au.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Bonding Energy(KCal/mol) Melting Temperature(in Celsius)
Al 77.92 660
Ag 67.88 961
Au 90.58 1064

The bonding Energy of the metals are taken from their Heat of Atomisation values which are assumed to be equal to bonding energies of these metals.Different atoms based on their nature, arrange themselves in different crystalline forms. The order in which atoms associate with neighbors, determine the bonding energy.

The High Bonding Energy essentially makes the metallic bonding which slowly departs from the covalent bonding by the increase of thr bonding energy and the correlating increase of the melting point.

Bouncing (Elastic) Collisions; Enter the data into the spreadsheet and plot the initial energy versus the final energy. Do a straight line fit to find the slope and intercept of this graph. Put the best-fit straight line on your graph. Does the slope and y-intercept agree, to within 90% confidence, with the value you expect? Results: Elastic: Mass of left car = 200kg, Mass of right car = 400kg initial velocity of left car initial velocity of right car         final...

The figure shows a plot of potential energy U versus position x of a 0.250 kg particle that can travel only along an x axis under the influence of a conservative force. The graph has these values: UA = 9.00 J, UC = 20.0 J and UD = 24.0 J. The particle is released at the point where U forms a “potential hill” of “height” UB = 12.0 J, with kinetic energy 8.00 J.
