The Fault Tree Analysis and the Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) are two tools that you could use at your job or even in your life. As a marketing manager, please show situations where each of these tools might be useful.

Fault Tree Analysis:

A fault tree analysis is basically a visual presentation which is for the team meant for maintenance to show them that how a problem is occured and some potential pathways which has led to the main failure of something.

It can be also stated as an systematic approach to find a root cause of any problem. In this process an analyzer which works with a logical sequence is used that evaluates the entire process and gives us the cause of any main failure.

Now let's answer to the question that why we use fault tree analysis or what are the situations when we use this tool :

* Generally whenever any new process starts in any company it face multiple issues and failures. To identify the true roots of the problem, the company is facing, Fault Tree Analysis comes into Picture.

The situations where this tool can be useful are as follows :

* Whenever there is a flaw in the system or in a machine, Fault tree analysis can be useful.

* While demonstrating compliance with safety rules and regulations, such as ADA.

* Whenever there are unnecessary resources spent by the company so to mitigate such resources and optimizing them, Fault Tree Analysis can be much helpful.

* Fault tree analysis can also be used to review, overhauling or redesigning systems.

One of the best thing about the process is that it's a pre defined or pre built system and the companies can just use it by just placing it on it's place.

It has three main compenents :

1. Diagram

2. Events

3. Connection between events which are referred to as Gates

Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA):

On the other hand DFMEA can be understood as an step by step approach to identify all the possible failure that a product or a service can have. The failures can be seen in a product/ service design or it's manufacturing. DFMEA is also known as the process analysis tool.

Let's know under which situation this tool can be used :

* The DFMEA can be used once a product, service or a process is designed. It can also come handy when any of the three ( product, service or process) is redesigned after a quality function deployment.

* It can also be used when we are planning to implement an existing process, product of service in a new way.

* It can be useful while developing control plans for a new process

* While we are developing improvement plans for an existing process or service then also this can be used

* While analysing a particular product, process or service, this tool comes handy

A typical example can be :

Consider a bank ATM machine. while dispensing the cash, it encountered some error. So under this situaton, DFMEA can be used by judging appropriate priorities for action.

Please note : The DFMEA gives a possible list of actions we need to do to reach to any solution.

Hope this helps !!
