In: Statistics and Probability
Given
The level of significance is 0.05 and the p value or probability value is 0.51.
Null hypothesis (H0) : There is a no relationship between the number of hours worked and job satisfaction.
Alternative hypothesis (H1): There is a relationship between the number of hours worked and job satisfaction.
Clearly we know that i) if P< 0.05 then we reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis.
and ii) if p> 0.05 then we accept the null hypothesis and reject the alternative hypothesis.
In the given information, clearly we can observe that p>0.05 i.e. 0.51 > 0.05. Hence we fail to reject the null hypothesis that there is a no relationship between the number of hours worked and job satisfaction.
Decision Making: Number of increasing working hours may not implies to job satisfaction, some times less working hours also gives more satisfaction in job. For example, Online classes and home tuition gives better opportunity to house wives.
One of my friend used to work as a full time faculty in a college before marriage for the salary of Rs.30000
After marriage, with my advice she registered in an online portal as an expert tutor. Now she is earning Rs.45000 by spending only 3-4 hours daily with out missing her family and other activities.
Simply, before marriage 9 hrs of work = Rs. 30000 less job satisfaction (no time for family)
after marriage max 4 hrs of work = Rs. 45000 Full satisfaction (more time for family)
