The functional aspects of a management information system includes the following:

• Financial Information System: The financial information system is a system used to collect, interpret and analyze finanial data which helps in doing financial planning for the organization that in turn helps in forecasting outcomes and decisions.
• Marketing Information System: This information system includes the functions related to marketing segment of the organization such as gathering, storing, analyzing marketing data and communicating it to respective managers to assist them for the information they need regularly. Marketing segment of the organization engaged in selling products of the organization to the customers.
• Marketing/Production Information System: This system helps in collecting and presenting data needed by the managers so that they can plan and direct daily operations of the organization.It helps to facilitate decision-making process related to the production segment of the organization.
• Human Resource Information System: This system helps HR processes and activities to accomplish electronically. It help HR managers in staffing, performance evaluation, manpower planning, training and development planning.
