Mental health is viewed as total well being of people including psychological, emotional, social factors. It is not mere absence of psychological disorder or emotional disorder.

Global means across the globe or entire earth and Global Mental Health refers to well being of people across many regions, nations, cultures, religions, etc. This concept considers everyone as stake holders of mental health. This ensures well being of all globally, so that there will be peace and effective utilization of resources.

Counselors in context of Mental Health are trained individuals to provide support and advice to people in need of social or psychological assistance to cope with their issue like depression, anxiety, addiction, etc. The counselors are usually graduates in Psychology or allied social sciences and trained to be good listeners and provide therapeutic advice.

If individuals are educated on well being within the context of mental health like providing leaflets about depression, types of health issues, symptoms to be noted for serious mental health issues, then these efforts are referred as educative efforts. All these efforts are to promote mental health in individuals at regional as well as international levels, so as to ensure global mental health. Some organizations may provide information on new drugs available for chronic mental health issues such as schizophrenia, mania, etc. These may be useful for comparing and choosing economic drugs available in market. Also, some social organizations do campaigns on mental health issues. These campaigns have been successful in reduction of drug addiction issues, suicide of youth, etc, in many countries. These efforts are boosting mental health literacy among people of different nations and thus ensuring success in global mental health mission.

Some organizations provide information on new inventions in mental health and help practitioners adapt new techniques to provide better service in mental health sphere across the globe, which makes equitable mental health care practice. Example: Providing information on alternative therapy and exchange of knowledge and ethical practice guidelines will boost quality of care provided to people. This will be beneficial for both care seekers and providers. If some drug proven to effective for one issue at one country, then information about that drug of choice may be useful to treat some other people in another country, resulting in equitable healthcare.
