ANSWER :- A maladaptive patterns of substance use leading to dysfunction or distress "was required for a Substance Use Disorder in DSM-IV but it is no longer required by DSM-5". "Can involve almost any drug".
REASON :- It is so because, while considering the basic requirements or standard to be included in the category of disorder of subsatnce use,it is first and the foremost need that those use of substance follows a pattern which is in fixed manner, that is using it in most frequently, which could eventually leads to stress in them, and may even show some sort of disorganized behavior. This characterstic or standard was prominently required by the DSM 4 rather DSM 5 because, with the advancement of DSM from 4 to 5,there was merger of both use of substance as well as depending on it,is made in the DSM 5,and since it was not the basis for, therefore it was not part of DSM 5,and since DSM 4 has its own standard, specifically for use of substance use,and the above give maladptive pattern of ise of substance leading to distress, was the prior basis, therefore it was required for DSM 4.
Moreover, while maintaining the basis for the DSM 4 for the use substance disorder, the researcher used various different kinds of subsatnce, and they got a similar result, therefore the maaldaptive patterns of substance leading to dysfunction can involve almost any drug.
Meanwhile, the withdrawl and tolerance cannot be included as it is not specific basis for substance use, rather it involves the basis for the depending on the substance form of diorder.
