To which parameter does the pulse pressure correlate – SSI or SRI? Explain.
Pulse pressure correlates with SSI.
SRI stands for student reflection index and SSI stands for student stiffness index.
Pulse pressure correlates with Student stiffness index whereas age of an individual also correlates with Student stiffness index. It is used to measure the arterial stiffness. Arterial wall becomes thick as the age increases and it's elasticity decreases as age increases due to which arterial wall stiffness increases with age. As age increases SSI increases that means old people have high SSI than young people
Pulse pressure is defined as the difference between systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure and average pulse pressure is about 40mmHg.
Blood pressure correlates with the student reflection index. It is used to measure the vascular tone. Vascular tone is measured by - height of systolic wave divided by height of diastolic wave. If SRI is high, blood pressure is low and if SRI is low blood pressure is high.
