In this lab we will test to see if there is evidence of a difference in the average age for at least 1 of 4 groups
of marital status (i.e., single, married, divorced, widowed). Use ?= 0.05.

To include in your submission:
ü Copy the ANOVA Table from the SPSS output to your Word document. Please make sure to adjust the
size of your tables so that they fit on the page.
ü Using the ANOVA table, answer the following for the one-way ANOVA:
a. Type the hypotheses.
b. Type in the test statistic found from the SPSS output.
c. Type in the p-value found from the SPSS output.
d. Type your decision regarding the null hypothesis.
e. Type in your conclusion using context and units from the problem

We have to test if there is evidence of a difference in the average age for at least 1 of 4 groups of marital status (i.e., single, married, divorced, widowed).
Level of Significance = 0.05
Part a) Type the hypotheses.
H0: the average age for 4 groups of marital status (i.e., single, married, divorced, widowed) is equal.
( That is: )
Vs
H1: the average age for at least 1 of 4 groups of marital status (i.e., single, married, divorced, widowed) is different.
Part b) Type in the test statistic found from the SPSS output.
F is the test statistic.
We have F test statistic: F = 25.214
Part c) Type in the p-value found from the SPSS output.
Value under Sig. column is nothing p-value.
Thus p-value = 0.000
Part d) Type your decision regarding the null hypothesis.
Decision Rule:
Reject H0, if p-value < 0.05 level of significance, otherwise we
fail to reject H0
Since p-value = 0.000 < 0.05 level of significance, we reject null hypothesis H0.
Part e) Type in your conclusion using context and units from the problem
At 0.05 level of significance, there is sufficient evidence of a difference in the average age for at least 1 of 4 groups of marital status (i.e., single, married, divorced, widowed).
