Identify an issue, problem, or opportunity facing a team member's organization that may be examined using hypothesis testing and a regression analysis.

Based on the following issue:

Proposal for the group project:

An issue facing my organization is evaluation of management by staff. Just last month, a survey was sent out (again) for nurses to evaluate management's performance based on certain criteria. Out of 150 staff, only 48 responded and out of the 48, only 36% believed our managers were doing a good job managing the unit. The expectation was to get a score of more than 50% and management believes that the response is not a true representation of the unit.

This is the only scenario I can think of with true values and we can analyze this using p-value.

Expert Solution

1.First of all, it is not clear that the total staff in the organization is 150. Also, it is not clear here that the survey was sent out to those persons who from whom the survey was conducted earlier. The use of the word(again) in the statment.

2. The number responded seems to be very less ie 48 out of 150 only. from whom the sucess rate id 36% or p=0.36. If I go by the true rate (conditional probabilty of success from those who responded) ie 48/150*0.36=0.32*0.36=0.1152.

3. From a decision making perspective, this number responded and hence the success rate seems to be too less.

4. Yes this can be analysed using the test of hypothesis where my H0: p=0.5(since the management feels at least 50% ) vs. H1=p

5. For testing, we use the test statistics:=0.0984 and this is the p-value for this particular test.

6. This is obviously teh right choice and the investigator has to oncrease the number of respondents and be clear about whether all the respondents are nurses alone or all the staff.
