Discuss the
importance of marketing logistics.
Market Logistics is involvement of planning, delivering &
controlling the flow of good/services in a strategic manner so that
material is delivered to the consumer from producer meeting the
customer demands along with generating revenues. There are numerous
importance features of marketing logistic:-
- Consumer Satisfaction, is achieved by following marketing
logistics mantras in the product lifecycle.
- Visibility into pricing & product details increase since
there is a fair & open transactional process is conducted.
- Delivering the right product in right time by evaluating the
needs of customer right in initial step.
- Proper promotional activities are performed so that product
reaches to the target customer effectively & with all the
information.
b. Discuss the
4 major functions of marketing logistics - be specific and provide
details for each one.
4 major functions of marketing logistics are:-
- Product:- Product marketing, involves
analyzing who is the consumer & how the product will be
delivered to them as per the requirements? Every consumer can have
different customized needs & product might change depending on
the requirements & hence the logistics of the goods/services
will vary from customer to customer. Every customer needs the 100%
conformance & assurance with every transaction. The major
agenda behind this functionality is meeting the product requirement
as per customer needs, delivering the product right on time &
details, precise billing transactions.
- Price:- Price of the product, is dependent on
various factors including internal & external. Factors which
help in recognizing the pricing must be dealt by marketing
logistics. The customer’s profile, goods/services & type of
order are the major factors that hold the pricing structure related
to any goods/service. Responsibility of marketing logistics is to
anaylize these factors & evaluate how this can affect the
demand of the product in market.
- Promotions:- Promotions are conducted so that
a product/service’s details & nature are advertised in market
to gain popularity. When introducing a new product/service to a
market, the company must coordinate with the marketing logistics
for proper channelizing. The major goal of marketing logistics is
that every related department work together & produce proper
marketing material which is needed to sell the product.
- Place:- The logistics complexities while
delivering the product to consumer, must be driven in an way that
they are not visible to the end customer. The end product/service
delivery is of importance to customer rather than analyzing what
all channels are being used in the entire process. The backend
works in the entire transaction must never be revealed. The placing
of the warehouse & other structures of org, is the
functionality of this market logistic area, wherein the placing
must be done by organization which would simplify the process
transactions between consumer & producer.
c. What is
reverse logistics?
As the work indicates, reverse logistics id the reusing of all
the products/materials involved. In this process, all the sets of
activities are performed that are conducted post sales of a
product. It might include servicing of the product, refurbishing,
recycling, and majorly reusing the waste. This is also know as
Retrogistics. Basically in reverse logistics, goods are moved from
their final position, with the purpose of reusing, recycling or
proper disposal. The forward logistics or simply the logisctics
starts from raw material & then after production &
distribution a product is delivered to consumer whereas in reverse
logistics, it starts from the user itself. The product is collected
from user & then proper repair or recycling whatever is
required is performed. For example, after delivering a product user
finds the same in defective condition. Then, reverse logistics has
to be performed from managing the product pick-up to delivering
replacement to consumer. The defective product will go another
series of processes including rework, remanufacture etc.
