Arteries of the pulmonary circuit:
deliver oxygen to the pulmonary capillaries |
||
direct blood back to the heart from the lungs. |

surround the small air ockets called alveoli. |
||
carry deoxygenated blood to the lungs. |
Blood circulation in human body has two different circutes in relation to heart. The systemic circulation and the pulmonary circulation. In the systemic circulation, arteries carry oxygenated blood from left ventricle of the heart to the different oragans in the body and return deoxygenated blood back to the right ventricle, through veins.
Pulmonary circulation is between the lungs and heart, through which the deoxygenated blood flow to the lungs and the oxygenated blood comes back to heart to carry out systemic circulation.
In the pulmonary circulation, the deoxygenated blood is carried by the pulmonary arteries ( originate from heart) to the lungs. The deoxygenated blood enter into the small capillary bed surrounding alveoli and get oxygenated from the inhaled air. The oxygenated blood flows back to the heart through the pulmonary veins ( vessels ends in the heart).
Thus the answer is carry deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
