Solutions

Expert Solution

Occupied energy level is equal to its valance electron's principal quantum number.

Principal quantum number = the period of that element in periodic table.

A.

Arsenic atom. Period =4

Answer is four.

B.

Phosphorus atom

Period = 3

Answer = three

C.

Antimony

Period = 5

Answer is five

D.

Calcium is second group element.

So it have 2 valance electrons.

Answer is two

E.

Chlorine is group 7 element(transition elements are not included in counting of group )

So it has seven valance electrons.

F.

Hydrogen is first group element. So it has one valance eletron.

G.

Same group elements show chemical similarities. Sulphur belongs to the same group as that of oxygen.

So Sulphur is an answer
