There are two types of bonds
1) Covalent
2) Ionic
Covalent: It is formed when electrons are shared. Strength of bond depends on the electronegativity difference. Electronegativity depends on the electron affinity.
Electronegativity is directly proportional to the electron affinity. Electron affinity increases more probability to form a bond so choice b is eliminated.
Ionic:
This bond is formed between metal and non metal. Element ends with “m”, are metal and so ionic bond is formed when elements name end with letter m.
It excludes the choice d.
Ionization energy
Energy required to remove outer electron is ionization energy. Less ionization energy, more tendency to remove electron and form charge which then form ionic bond.
Since in choice “a”, ionization energy is high so less tendency to form a bond. And therefore correct choice is “a”.
