explain in short food availability and how is calculated ( nutrition)?
Food availability is the amount of food that is physically present in a country or are through all forms of domestic production, stocks, commercial imports and food aid. Climate change disrupts food availability It is a major factor in how many animals live in an ecosystem. Areas with rich food supplies have more species than areas with less food.
To calculate the nutrition available from afood is:By multiplying the number of grams of carbohydrate by 4, number of grams of protein by 4, number of grams of fat by 9.
Example: In 1slice of bun with a spoon of peanut butter contains 7 grams of protein ,9 grams of fat and 16 grams of carbohydrate, then
16 gram carbohydrate* 4 kcal/g = 64kcal.
7 g protein* 4 kcal/ g = 28 kcal.
9g of fat * 9 kcal?g = 81 kcal.
so, total = 173kcal.
To determine the percentage of kcalories from fat, then (81 fat calories / total of 173 kcalories) * 100
(81/173) * 100 = 0.468 * 100 = 0.47. *100 = 47%.
