Describe the embryological development of the lungs. 500 words.

Development of lungs or respiratory system starts early during the gestation period and gets completed upto 7th month so that if baby is born premature so he aur she can breath by its own

Although during the whole gestation period lungs gets inactivated as mother provides all necessary oxygen through placenta and removes excess carbon dioxide

After first lungs got activated when baby makes his her first cry.

Development of lungs starts during the 4th week of gestation and they use to develop fully by the end of 28th week alveolis are welk developed most of the part of respiratory system develops from the endoderm.

At about 4th week the olfactory pits used to seen which gets enlarged to form nasal cavity at same time ectodermal and endodermal tissue gets invaginated to form pharynx and at same time the lung bud a dome shaped stucture use to form from the foregut.

Laryngotracheal bud and bronchial bud are also seen towards the end of 4th week which expands and form the trachea and alveoli further in 7 to 12 weeks.

By the end of 16th week respiratory bronchioles are formed now all the major structures are formed now till 28th week vascularization and blood supply process use to develop cell lining pneumocytes are all developed by the end of 28th week.

And now baby's respiratory system gets developed and future maturation used to occurs if it is a full term baby and gets activated after the birth
