Direction of fiber / muscle contraction: ( LEFT, RIGHT, UP, OR DOWN )

  1. Masseter & temporalis
  2. Lateral rectus (of the eye)
  3. Sternocleidomastoid
  4. Rectus abdominus
  5. Multifidi
  6. Trapezius
  7. External oblique & internal oblique (one on the right and one on the left)
  8. Pectoralis major
  9. Deltoid
  10. Latissimus dorsi

Solutions

Expert Solution

Direction of muscle fibre are usually will be in the direction of orgin to insertion

1)Masseter and temporalis - DOWN

This are the muscle used for the mastication. it is directed downward in the body

2) Lateral Rectus

Lateral rectus is used for the abduction of the eye

Lateral rectus of the right eye muscle fibre are directed to RIGHT

Lateral rectus of the left eye muscle fibre are directed to LEFT

3) RECTUS ABDOMINIS - UPWARD

rectus abdominis muscle is orginating from the pubic symphysis and inserted in to the 5, 6, 7 costal cartilage and xphoid process

4) multifidi muscle - DOWNWARD

multifidus muscle orginate from the superior articular surface of the c4 - c7 vertebrae and inserted to the spine of c 4 to c7 vertebrae

5) TRAPEZIUS - Downward

6) external oblique of the right side - LEFT (INWARD AND OBLIQUE)

Internal oblique of the left side - LEFT ( OUTWARD AND OBLIQUE)

7) PECTORALIS MAJOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE - RIGHT

PECTORALIS MAJOR ON THE LEFT SIDE - LEFT

8) DELTOID - DOWNWARD

9)LATISSIMUS DORSI RIGHT SIDE - RIGHT

LATISSIMUS DORSI LEFT SIDE - LEFT

Skeletal muscle has a defined contraction period, causing the full contraction of every stimulated fiber. (8 pts) Part 1 - What determines the length of time during which the fiber contracts? Part 2 - What ends the contraction, so relaxation can begin? (not including the termination of the NMJ stimulation) Part 3 - Taking the previous two parts, and now adding in that the NMJ has stopped inducing depolarizations at the motor end plate, describe the events as the contraction...

Explain the molecular regulation and mechanism of muscle contraction. Start with an action potential moving down a T-tubule and end with relaxation following a contraction. Your answer should include details of specific cellular features, molecules, ions, and their interactions to the extent that we covered it in class. Assume that we understand the basic structure of a sarcomere so that you don’t have to describe the overall structure in your response.
