Training is one of the key activities in an organization that helps the employees in their individual development and the firm in the organizational development. Trainings help in boosting the confidence of the employees and make them prepared to take up additional responsibilities. Trainings can be conducted to provide general skills or specific skills to the employees.

General skills include -Individual development skills like communication skills, interpersonal skills etc.

Specific skills include - On the job training that is required to help the employee improve his/her productivity specific to the work being done in the firm, Skills required to effectively take up additional responsibilities in the firm, Firm specific tools and accelerators etc.

Measuring training effectiveness is critical to understand how effective the training is in developing employee skills thus contributing to the job performance. The impact that would result from a shift in the measurement of training from events delivered or number of attendees to the changes of employees on the job performance includes -

A relative and more effective measurement of the job performance as the number of attendees can be an on-record number but the training effectiveness is difficult to measure.
