  1. You do a study on participation in sports and good or bad health. You find out only 1 person in your study had poor health and participated in sports.

What test should you use?

  1. Chi-Squared
  2. Fisher Exact test
  3. McNemar test
  4. All of the above

Solutions

Expert Solution

answer : D. All of the above

Chi-square test : A single simple random sampling is done with each individual being classified based on two categorical variables.

Fisher exact test is used in the analysis of the 2×2 times 2×2 contingency table and also it is an alternative of the chi square test which is used to compare the binary outputs that have been produced by two methods.

McNemar test is used in the analysis of the 2×2 contingency table with the dichotomous variables with the matched pairs of subjects and moreover it is applied to the paired nominal data.

It is clear that study is conducted on participation in sports or not and good or bad health can be used only if it can be classified into the category variables with the nominal data in the 2×2 contingency table. Since the given data can be expresses into the 2×2 contingency table the statement “the test that should be used” would be clearly all the above alternatives.
