what do we need to consider in understanding the effects of psychoactive drugs in a human
Psychoactive drugs are those that if
consumed affect part of the brain functions such as perception and
thinking thus affecting the behavior. It limits one from
functioning normally. They are used for medical purposes as
anesthesia, they used as recreation purposes such as alcohol etc.
In any case drugs are going to affect one physically,
psychologically and emotionally.
Drugs are used from the beginning of human society. Soldiers
injured in the war and physicians who conducted surgeries used
drugs to reduce pain and it's still the practice. The scenario has
changed as people have started using drugs for pleasure purposes.
This has led to addiction and the society is threatened by the drug
users as they lose their stability and involved in crimes which in
turn cost more money to the governments and it also kills more
people.
Drugs can alter one's state of mind and spoil the entire life. It
can also affect relationship as the person taken drug will not be
able to reason. Drugs will cause employment problems as one cannot
staying a job for a long time as they won't be able to focus. So,
what starts as a funny instant shouldn't mar one's entire life and
for this to happen, drugs should be used only for medicinal
purposes.
