As per the research, talking on a cell phone or using it while driving causes most of the dangerous accidents but texting while driving makes it six times more dangerous than drunk driving. Amongst all the cell phone related task accidents, texting is by far the most dangerous one in all of them. It increases the risk of the distraction of the driver and leads to his eyes off the road, which causes the most severe types of accidents of all.
As per the study of National Safety Council, using a cell phone by any means while driving can four times increase the risk of occurrence of an accident, whether it's just clicking a button or texting someone. According to the reports, daily about 11 of the teenagers crash while texting and driving. Millions of people get injured or are disabled by the car crashes every year, amongst them lakhs of the crashes are caused by texting and driving.
Many governments have made strict rules against such crashes. They have kept a base fine for the first offence or when it repeated again or the case is much severe then the person is punishable up to one year of imprisonment. Many of them have even banned such activity, which means its an illegal activity to be committed and it's a criminal offence.
The consequences of such activity and the past experiences of the people gone through such situation is enough to encourage people to pull over from texting a message while driving. Texting on-road clearly impairs the visual, physical and cognitive abilities of the person which leads to the missing of the driver's concentration from the road which results in a dangerous accident.
Most adults between the age of 18 to 35 are more likely to text while driving. It has been noticed that in most of the cases of car accidents around 60 per cent are of texting and driving in which more than 27 per cent cases the teenagers are the ones who commit such activity.
If texting is very important at that time, its better to stop the vehicle on side of the road and do the needful and once its completed, then drive again. Or if it's not so important then its much better to wait till your destination arrives and then you can send the message. This simple act of self-control can save many lives all over the world. It's better to control your self once rather regret it many times.
