You are studying two endangered species – one is a small flowering plant and the other is a rare lizard. Explain what method you would use to estimate the population size of each, and why. What type of population dynamics and growth models would you expect in each of these populations, and why?
I'm stuck with is question and it is due tomorrow by 12pm
firstly; (endangered species means the animal or plant that are edge of extinction,)
study methods include observation, photography ,live trapping and transect sampling, all the methods results in estimating the population size.
in case of lizard we use passive mode and pitfall technique( Pitfall trapping is a sampling technique that is widely used to examine species occurrence during surveys, spatial distribution patterns, compare relative abundance in different micro-habitats, study daily activity rhythms, and study seasonal occurrence)
for small flowering plants ;small area plots determine the population density
A population is a collection of individual organisms of the same species that occupy some specific area. The term "population dynamics" refers to how the number of individuals in a population changes over time. Biologists study the factors that affect population dynamics because they are interested in topics such as conservation of endangered species
