In a patient c/o lower extremity pain with activity, the march test is positive. What condition should you suspect
tarsal tunnel syndrome
plantar fasciitis
gluteus maximus weakness
arterial occlusion
chondromalacia patellae
Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a condition in which patient complaints of numbness in the foot radiating to the toes. pain, burning, electrical sensations, and tingling over the base of the foot and the heel This condition is due to compression in the tibial nerve.
Plantar fasciitis causes pain in the heel and bottom of the foot which is due to a disorder of the connective tissue. Pain is usually most severe following a period of rest.
The Gluteus Maximus Muscle is the largest muscle human body. It plays an important role in the human movement system, the weakness of which contributes to chronic pain and injury. It is an extensor of the hip joint and used to powerful lower limb movements such as running or climbing but is not used during normal walking.
Arterial occlusion causes muscle pain occurs during physical activity and is relieved after a short rest. Pain develops because of inadequate blood flow.
Chondromalacia patellae: Symptoms are pain around the knee. The pain is usually located at the front of the knee, around or behind the kneecap. The pain is typically worse when going up or downstairs. It may be brought on by sitting for long periods.
March test is used to asses sacroiliac motion. Muscles and ligaments attach to the sacroiliac joint and that muscle can be a source of dysfunction of this muscle. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction may cause referred pain in legs. Gluteus Maximus muscle weakness may cause lower extremity pain.
